The start of summer, i think about all things white   a white bikini, a white tee, a white  cotton shirt, white eyelet, white cotton anything, white linen everything! i also think of the perfect all white   summer home- white-washed floors, white bead-boards, white linen slip-covered furniture, piles of white towels and stacks of white dinner ware, white hydrangea everywhere! add some white sand, a straw hat, white wine…i love white- it’s always pure, nice, simple and so relaxed!

Wearing denim-on-denim has been frowned upon since that unforgettable moment when then-couple Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears showed up at the 2001 American Music Awards wearing matching Canadian tuxedos. Pairing a denim jacket with jeans was popular in the ’90s, but lately though, the style has resurfaced. As pastels invade spring wardrobes, it’s the iciest of blues that are catching the eye of the fashion pack. Giorgio Armani’s silk sirens gave off a subtle icy blue sheen and the adorable Givenchy’s spring/summer ’13 frills were tinted the shade of ice blue and contrasted with metallic fastenings. Absolutely fresh are Fendi’s pale blue structural tunic dresses were painted with bold lines for an athletic touch to the label’s spring 2013 collection. Donna Karan from the other side, offset her barely-there blue tailoring with a lick of hot fuchsia eye make-up.

Head -to-toe-white was a major force on spring runways, with designers showcasing full looks using modern separates in varying shades of true white, ivory, and cream, and capping things off white stark booties or sandals, Top to toe white needn’t mean you look pure as the proverbial driven; add intrigue to your outfit by layering sheer fabrics, as seen at Victoria Beckham, Emilio Pucci and Valentino.
Technical mesh fabrics in sporty shapes, as seen at Stella McCartney, will catapult you into a new futuristic league.
Laser-cutting is the new broderie anglaise, or cut white leather bomber is the jacket to covet this spring.
And finally, play with texture: Balmain’s Olivier Rousteing’s crocheted dresses mimicked conservatory chair wicker upholstery, while Christopher Kane embossed his optic leathers with swirling rose motifs.

This season heralded a collective shift to more dramatic, almost costume-eque silhouettes across the board. We saw a lot of dramatically oversize men’s shapes—coats, jackets—will always reference David Byrne in the Talking Heads tour movie Stop Making Sense..  Not androgyny, more the kind of polymorphous glamour that is something new for Fall 13/14. Not merely a bit loose, Fall’s overcoats are drastically oversized, with dropped shoulders, extra-long cuffs, and large lapels.
Stella McCartney, Céline , Louis Vuitton,  Dries Van Noten,  Peter Pilotto, Hermes,  Richard Nicoll, Christopher Kane etc, similarly reflected this paradigm shift. Voluminous and almost oblong in shape, six, four and two, button coats were sent down the runway in lux materials and thick wool. These jackets boasted equally oversized lapels that seemed to all but drown the models in material. Even Margiela’s normal focus on deconstruction was sidelined by the eyebrow-raising proportions of some of the fall collections.

The long-awaited Paris Fashion Week Fall 2013-14 ends happily preview on the upcoming winter, with wonderful collections such as last week with the triumphant Valentino Collection. To my delight the design duo of Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Picciolli  showed one of their best collections for which paraded ultra-feminine clothes, processed to seem more pieces of Haute Couture inspired by the severity of certain Flemish paintings of the seventeenth century.  Making a study of white collars, Chiuri and Piccioli added them, to many of their familiar look. The collection even better it was predominantly blue & white.

I love  blue and white porcelain, tiles and ceramics and i’m a fan of blue and white interiors.  So all this  influence of the sensual portraits of the Dutch masters, the ceramics pattern on the dresses , the China blue, were starkly beautiful to look  down on the runway.
It also confirms the trend this season of a thousand proposals trends at once, instead of a few more general, which not only delight us with a multitude of creative offers interesting but they also speak more and more diversified tastes of the different international markets.
